Richard L. Roland, 81, Naples, Florida

Richard L. Roland passed away on Sunday, October 14th at Avow Hospice in Naples FL at the age of 81. He was born on August 16th, 1931 in Grosse Pointe, MI to the late William B. and Mary L. (Marchand) Roland. The family resided in Grosse Pointe Farms where he graduated from St. Paul High School.He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served with the occupational forces in Europe. After his service, he completed his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University, majoring in education. He later obtained a Masters of Education from Wayne State University. He was a business education teacher at Lakeview High School in St. Clair Shores, MI where he taught for 30 years. He developed the vocational education program and was the department chairman. He and his wife Mary Ann relocated to Naples in 1997. He will be remembered for his volunteer service to the North Naples Community Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Ann (Klauer) and his three sons Richard (Desiree), David (Julie), and James (Dana). He was the proud Grandfather of five grandchildren (Naomi, Matthew, Steven, Zachary and Tyler (deceased)). He is preceded in death by his brother William and is survived by his brother Robert (Louise).The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home on Pine Ridge Road. The Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Remembrances may be made to Avow Hospice in Naples or to the American Cancer Society.
